getting started

So how do we get the ball rolling? I am always happy to discuss your project. Every piece of writing is different and can require more or less editing than another piece the same length.

  1. Get in touch: Let me know what you are working on, how long it is, and the deadline. Drop me a line and we can get started.
  2. Get a free sample edit and estimate: I will do a free edit of a couple of pages and give you an estimate of the number of hours your project should require. You’ll be able to see how I work and the kinds of edits or suggestions I would make, to make sure it’s what you are looking for before you hire me.

working with me

When you hire me, you will get:

  • A thoughtfully edited document. I work hard to preserve the writer's voice and expert content while making the language usage consistent and correcting any issues with grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • A personalized style sheet. The English language is complex, and often there is no one right way to do things. I will create a style sheet to keep track of any decisions made when there are choices, and as a reminder of common corrections. This helps with consistency throughout a project and can serve as a reference tool for future projects. I can also work within your own preferred or house style guide, if you have one.

Terms
I require a deposit of 50% of my estimate. My work is timed and I only charge for hours worked. I invoice for the balance when the project is completed.
